The main purpose of this study was to rediscover the exoplanet TrES-3b using the ‘Transit’ method and to make sure the technique of discovering this exoplanet was still useable to detect new exoplanets. The websites Itelescope.net, Aavso.org (American Association of Variable Star Observers), and Jefflcoughlin.com all contributed to the capture and analyzation of several images. After the capture of 21 images using a telescope in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, California, the data that was gathered appeared to be within the parameters of what we expected, showing that an exoplanet orbits the star GSC 03089-00929 and that the technique of detecting the change in magnitude of a star as a planet passes in front of it is still applicable in modern astronomy. This study showed that, even with very minute experience, an exoplanet was rediscovered using the ‘Transit’ method and is still a possibility to be used in the future to help discover more exoplanets.
